Because I Don't Want To Forget...

....the way she looked when she woke up on her second birthday. Her strawberry blond hair wild from a good night's sleep.

I don't want to forget the way those grey eyes could tell something was different as I walked in singing "Happy Birthday". I watched her scan the room taking note of  the streamers Joe and I hung while she slept the night before.

I don't want to forget how big brother, Isaac wanted in on the action. I promised him I would wake him up once she fell asleep. I tried, boy, did I ever try. I gently shook him, rubbed his face, asked him if he wanted to help decorate Sister's room. I got nothin'. Nada, zip, zilch, zero...no response. So, plan B required him getting up before his sister. Not too hard since he's usually our first riser.

It was adorable the way he put such thought into where each streamer would go. He was so bummed because he had to go to school before she woke up. I promised I would record her waking up. I love their somethin' special.

Her day was beautiful, warm and sunny, just like her.

I don't want to forget the way she played with the little dollhouse in the toy store and how I knew that would have to be her special gift.

Or how Daddy called and said he wanted to take us out to lunch for our girl's big day. Pancake House, our favorite. I watched my sweet littles enjoy delicious blueberry pancakes.

I don't want to forget the way she sang "Happy Birthday To You" all day long and how she loved telling everyone she ran into that she was "Two!" I just couldn't get enough of those yummy cheeks of hers!

I don't want to forget the way our neighbors came to celebrate with us. We sang and played and ate yummy strawberry cake with white icing...all to celebrate my girl. It makes my heart ache in such a good way when I see others love on my kids like that. Like they can see her somethin' special. too.

And I certainly don't want to forget holding her close after her bath, drinking in her yummy-ness. Reading her bedtime book and praying over my baby girl. Because no matter how many birthdays she celebrates, she will always, always be my baby girl.

And, the giveaway winner will be announced tonight or tomorrow. I'm hoping tonight but we just got invited over to a friend's house for s'mores and conversation next to a cozy fire. And, that sounds like waaay too much fun to pass up! My kind of evening, for sure! I can't wait to see who wins! I'm super excited for each one of you!

XOXO,
Angie

  2. Happy birthday to your little girl - she has the sweetest little face! And she must be a sound sleeper... I could never get away with that with my almost 2 year old! I'm glad she had a special day :)
